I changed the intro of this blog post to write a little about the incident that occurred in Vegas a few days ago. My heart is heavy. The victims of this attack were people just like you and me. Enjoying a concert and their night. Children have lost their parents, students have lost a teacher, and people are left without loved ones. I can’t imagine what they are going through. I know praying will not be enough. Other than donating we can help by just changing our ways. Be kind to strangers, tell your family and friends you love them, judge less, accept others, and most importantly love everyone. Love everyone regardless of their race, ethnicity, belief, or even if they have a different mindset than yours. At the end of the day we all share one world. We are all humans who are just a moment on this earth. How will you spend your moment?
Today I’m going to talk about top 5 (top 5, top 5, top 5) ways you can become a workout person. Because I wasn’t born a fitness person and with a change of habit you can become one too! Here are some pics my best friend Sahra took of me a few days ago. I’m wearing a Lululemon crop top and Aerie Leggings. I love these leggings. They are great quality and are nice and high rise.
- A Workout Plan. This is HUGE! You need some structure and guidance before you enter the gym. It’s cool to do your own thang but it’s easier to stay motivated when you have a written program to follow at the gym. Their are so many workout programs out there, you just have to find the one that works for you (or send me a message for one!).
- Schedule Your Workouts. I truly believe if something is important to you, you will make time for it. Make your health a priority and workout (or go for a walk, just move yourself). Schedule your workouts. If you work a 9-5 get a quick workout in before you head to work, or hit the gym right after. Like most trainers, I train myself between clients in the afternoon. The gym is the least busy and most of my clients are working around that time.
- Stick To Your Workouts. The number one reason people don’t see results is because they don’t stay consistent with the workouts. You won’t see results by just doing a single workout and never doing another one or waiting and starting again the week after. I believe they say (who’s they?) that it takes three weeks to adapt a habit. You’ll see results within three weeks, so it’ll be super motivating to keep going.
- Change Your Thinking. The most important thing in the world should be your health. Exercising isn’t just to look good, it’s to feel good, and to live a long, healthy life. Your body was designed to move. When you start to develop that mentality you will begin to really put your workouts first. We have one life, one body to live in. Just like you take care of everything else, take care of your body as well.
- Have Fun With It. Don’t think of it as a punishment. Think of it as a reward. I’m always telling my clients that I want this to be an enjoyable experience. Yeah you got to push through it, but it feels so good right after. Find what works for you and crush it!
