Happy last day of July friends! I’m doing my best to soak up every bit of summer. I started today off by getting all my computer work done at a coffee shop patio (getting my tan on and work on, multitasking ya know?) Little life update: I’m offically a full time Personal Trainer (woohoo). So far, it has been the best job I’ve ever had. I absolutely love all my clients I train and it’s extremely rewarding when I see them progress. Since becoming a Trainer I have noticed a few positive changes. Also here are some pics that were taken at Sugar Beach in Toronto a few weeks ago. I absolutely love Toronto’s harbour front, especially during the evening. Here are some pretty cool changes I have noticed in the last few weeks:
- Less Phone and More Talk. I have a strict rule (that all Personal Trainers should follow) No phones when I’m with my clients. It feels so nice not to be on my phone for an hour and to concentrate on my client. I’ve also noticed my listening skills have improved drastically. I feel a better connection with my clients when I’m not distracted by anything, I love making the session all about them.
- I’m Leaner. It’s true! I’m noticing more ab definition. My last job was a desk job. Though the hours were not long, I was snacking and not drinking enough water (the sitting didn’t help either of course). With Personal training I’m on my feet the entire time. I’m also demonstrating exercises to my clients and sometimes lifting during certain movements. I’m also not eating during the sessions which prevents me from snacking and I’m sipping on a lot more water.
- I’m Less Tired. I was going to write more energized but the term “less tired” describes the feeling better. My training sessions are an hour long each and because the session goes by fast (time flies when you’re having fun) and I’m constantly moving, I don’t feel as exhausted as I used to. I also stay super alert during the session with counting reps, spotting my clients, and keeping them entertained.
- Changing Lives. This has been the best part of being a trainer, watching my clients progress. It’s so rewarding watching them reach their goals from losing weight to becoming stronger. I’m always so proud when my clients do that extra rep or plank for a few seconds longer than last time (I get a little too excited sometimes).
- New friendships Begin. I’m super lucky because I train a lot of women around my age and it’s been nothing but good times during the training sessions. I have formed friendships with each of my clients and it has been so awesome training them and helping them reach their goals. The sessions feels more like hangout sessions than they do feel like work to me. I now truly understand the quote “Find a job you love and you’ll never work a day in your life”.

That’s awesome girl! I’m proud of you. I can only imagine being a personal trainer is a rewarding career. My last trainer held the qualities you speak of above and I loved training with her, so I have no doubt that you will make an awesome trainer. Good luck!
